Assessing The Role Of Artificial Intelligence In Highway Traffic Optimization And Safety

This research focuses on the use of artificial intelligence (AI) in controlling the traffic in the highway and ensuring that the rate of accidents is minimized. The research measures the effectiveness of the systems in traffic management through the application of machine learning algorithm, deep learning methods and real time predictive modeling. The results discussed in this paper prove that AI solutions help improve traffic conditions by optimizing signals’ timing and routes, which in turn decreases traffic congestion. In addition, AI has been very helpful in the identification of the traffic anomalies and has been applied to enhance the safety of the highways thereby reducing incidences of accidents. AI technologies incorporated in the traffic monitoring systems have been useful in reviewing potential threat and also early intervention. This research is significant to the field in the following ways: It provides real-world findings with regards to the impact of using AI in traffic regulation and provides information to policy makers and traffic regulating bodies. The future research possibilities are to increase the accuracy of the AI algorithms, to discuss the possible inclusion of new objects, such as self-driving cars, and to assess the impact on various traffic situations. The study therefore brings out the significance of AI in making intelligent traffic systems and the need to continue improving on the same.
