National and cultural symbolization of the number in Russian, Bashkir and Kazakh phraseological units

The article attempts a linguacultural analysis of phraseological units of the Bashkir, Kazakh and Russian languages with a numerical component as ways of expressing the universal cultural code. The analysis of the semantics of phraseological units, the identification of the specifics of their meaning, the study of the systemic relationships between them and the most important processes of phraseology in various languages contribute to a deeper insight into the semantic processes in phrasemes. Phraseology remains a means of active thought in which the idea of the world is realized. Reflecting in their semantics the long process of developing the culture of the people, phraseological units fix and transmit cultural attitudes and stereotypes as well as standards and archetypes from generation to generation. That is why all phraseological units of a particular language have linguistic and cultural specifics. Many Russian, Bashkir, and Kazakh phraseological units have numerals in their composition which also carry culturally specific semantics. Each number has its own semantics and symbolism. As a rule, it does not match in different cultures. The most commonly used phraseological units in the studied languages are those with numerals denoting prime numbers. It is these numbers (of the top ten) that are most widely represented in various conceptual interpretations in cultural studies. The relevance of this study is due to the need to study numerals from the point of view of reflecting in them the ethnocultural features of the universal category of numbers, the importance of ideas about number and counting expressed in language. To reconstruct the Russian, Bashkir, and Kazakh linguistic worldview, it is necessary to focus mainly on defining the “non-numeric” semantics of numerals that function as an integral part of phraseological units in these languages. The proposed work attempts to identify common and nationally specific, including symbolic features reflected in the worldview of the Russian, Bashkir and Kazakh peoples. The article also describes the factors contributing to the equivalent and nationally labeled motivation of phraseological units in the studied languages. Для реконструкции русской, башкирской, казахской языковой картины мира необходимо сосредоточиться главным образом на определении «нечисловой» семантики числительных, функционирующих в качестве составной части фразеологизмов в этих языках. Abstract
