Abstract

The article is devoted to the consideration of several episodes from the history of the Crimean Peninsula. Greek colonists appeared on the territory of Crimea at the beginning of the 7th century BC. They encountered the Crimean aborigines Taurians in the foothills of the Main Range of the Crimean Mountains. The image of these autochthons is vividly captured by Euripides in the tragedy “Iphigenia in Tauris” as well as in the testimonies of Greek and Roman authors.
