Stereoisomerism and Anticancer Activity of Tetracyclic Dispiro Ozonides (1,2,4-Trioxolanes) Obtained by the Reaction of Alicyclic 1,5-Diketones with Hydrogen Peroxide
Using 2,2′-methylenedi(cyclohexan-1-one) as an example of alicyclic 1,5-diketones, selective preparative methods for the transformation of its racemic form into diastereomeric tetracyclic ozonides by the action of 30% hydrogen peroxide in acid medium have been demonstrated, and a plausible mechanism of stereoisomeric transformations has been proposed. Tetracyclic dispiro ozonides may be promising lead compounds for the design of therapeutic agents for the treatment of drug-resistant prostate cancer.
