“Prognostic Evaluation Of Hematological Parameters In Pulmonary Tuberculosis Patients’’

Tuberculosis (TB) remains a significant global health issue, particularly in developing countries, where it affects millions of people. This study aimed to assess the prognostic value of hematological parameters in pulmonary TB patients. Conducted at Santosh Medical College and Hospital, Ghaziabad, the study involved 174 participants aged 18–65 years. Blood samples were analyzed for complete blood count (CBC) and erythrocyte sedimentation rate (ESR).The findings revealed that most patients fell within the 40–49 (22%) and 50–59 (22%) age groups. Prognosis distribution showed that 47% of participants had a good prognosis, 34% had a fair prognosis, and 19% had a poor prognosis, with statistically significant differences. However, the timing of therapy initiation (within 1, 2, or 3 weeks) did not significantly impact prognosis. The study underscores the importance of hematological evaluations in TB management. While early treatment remains crucial, the prognosis appears to be influenced by multiple factors beyond just therapy initiation time. These findings highlight the need for personalized treatment strategies to improve patient outcomes.
