The Crime Against Humanity and the Assassination of General Qasem Soleimani and Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis
On January 3, 2020, the United States targeted General Qasem Soleimani and Jamal Jaafar Mohammed (Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis), deputy commander of Iraq's Popular Mobilization Forces, under direct orders from the U.S. president. This research examines whether their assassination constitutes a crime against humanity based on international documents and potential legal actions. It also explores whether U.S. sanctions on Iran amount to a large-scale or systematic attack on civilians that are targeted by the U.S. government policies. The study argues that the assassination of Soleimani, al-Muhandis, and their companions is part of this broader American policy. Based on the findings, the research concludes that the U.S. government engages in systematic and widespread aggression against the Iranian and Iraqi peoples.
