AI-Powered Risk Management Solutions in the Banking Sector: A Data-Driven Approach

In the rapidly evolving financial sector, the need for advanced fraud detection mechanisms is increasingly critical. This research paper assesses the efficacy of different artificial intelligence (AI) models in real-time fraud detection within financial institutions. The study involves evaluating three AI models—Gradient Boosting Machine (GBM), Random Forest Classifier, and Deep Learning Neural Networks—to determine their effectiveness in identifying fraudulent transactions and operational irregularities. By analyzing critical performance metrics such as precision, real-time detection speed, F1-score, and recall, the research seeks to uncover the advantages and limitations of each model. Model 1 evaluates the efficacy in identifying anomalies and potential fraudulent activities within a controlled environment. Model 2 focuses on real-time fraud detection, assessing the models' capacity to precisely categorize transactions as fraudulent or non-fraudulent. Model 3 examines performance under various operational conditions, including normal transaction loads, high transaction volumes, and periods of elevated fraudulent activity. The findings reveal that Deep Learning Neural Networks outperform other models in terms of recall and precision, demonstrating superior capabilities in detecting complex patterns of fraud. Although Deep Learning models exhibit longer detection times, their accuracy in identifying true positives and minimizing false negatives underscores their effectiveness. In contrast, the Random Forest Classifier and GBM, while effective, show limitations in precision and recall compared to Deep Learning models. The research contributes to the understanding of AI applications in fraud detection and provides actionable insights for financial institutions seeking to enhance their detection capabilities.
