Design and Development of Tapioca Harvesting Machine

Traditionally, tapioca harvesting has been manual, requiring 22-40 man-days per hectare and costing ₹10,000-₹15,000 per day. This labor-intensive process burdens farmers, who often receive poor returns from industries like sago manufacturers. An automated harvester machine is proposed to streamline harvesting, featuring a 1200 rpm roller chain saw, plow shovel, conveyor system, and 12V battery. This machine will reduce labor costs and time, offering both rental and purchase options. Low-income farmers can rent the machine, while industries can buy it. This innovation aims to reduce labor dependency, lower costs, and increase efficiency in cassava farming. By mechanizing the harvesting process, farmers can significantly reduce labor costs and the overall investment in harvesting. The machine can perform the task faster than manual labor, reducing the time required for harvesting. The machine will be available for both one-time purchase and rental, catering to different needs. A rental basis is ideal for low-income farmers who harvest every 6-7 months, making the machine accessible without a significant upfront cost.
