A High‐Gain Interleaved Soft‐Switching Bidirectional Flyback Converter

ABSTRACT Using energy storage systems can address the challenges of renewable energy variability. To establish a connection between the energy storage system and the grid, the incorporation of a bidirectional DC‐DC converter is imperative. Flyback converters emerge as the preferred choice owing to their simple circuit structure, electrical isolation, and cost‐effectiveness. Nevertheless, the presence of leakage inductance results in voltage spikes. This paper introduces a novel high‐gain interleaved soft‐switching bidirectional flyback converter. The third winding of the transformer has the function of voltage gain extension. The proposed converter is capable of soft switching in both reverse and forward mode by utilizing active clamping without additional switches. The staggered parallel structures play a key role in minimizing current ripple and current stresses. The study analyzes its operating principles and elucidates the parameter design process. An experimental prototype is fabricated and tested, and the results are consistent with the theoretical analysis, which verifies the practicality and effectiveness of the proposed converter.
