Ultrasound B-Mode Image Reconstruction of Custom Fabricated Phantoms in the Laboratory

Ultrasound imaging is a versatile tool used in medicine for both therapeutic and diagnostic applications. Ultrasound imaging is a non-invasive, non-ionizing, affordable and accessible modality making it a popular imaging technique, especially in low income countries. Ultrasound is used widely in procedures such as prenatal imaging, where it helps to visualize the developing fetus, and in the diagnosis and monitoring of various diseases of organs such as the heart, liver and kidneys. Therapeutically, ultrasound is used in treatments such as lithotripsy, where high-frequency sound waves are used to break up kidney stones, and in physical therapy to promote tissue healing [1].
