Synthesis of Nd1.85Ce0.15CuO4 bulk samples using spark plasma sintering
Abstract This paper reports the synthesis of electron-doped copper oxide superconductor Nd 1.85 Ce 0.15 CuO 4 bulk samples using the spark plasma sintering (SPS) method. By sintering at 800 °C for 2 min under vacuum using SPS, samples with a critical temperature ( T c ) of 20 K were obtained. Although the T c (0) is about 3 K lower than that of samples synthesized by the conventional method, which involves sintering in a flow of argon (Ar) for over 10 h, the SPS method significantly reduces the sintering time.
