Digital Twin Applications in Internal Transportation Systems Maintenance: A Conceptual Framework
The article focuses on implementing the digital twin (DT) concept for mobile robot maintenance management. A digital twin is a virtual representation of a connected physical asset and gives the capability to predict its conditions in the future. As a result, the introduction of digital twins in any technical system, e.g., an internal transportation system, gives the possibility to decrease the volume of resources needed to design, produce, and keep transportation assets in a good operational state. Therefore, the main problem addressed in the paper is developing a framework for DT concept implementation in the maintenance management area of internal transportation systems. Indeed, the paper presents a short literature review on the defined research area. Later, the maintenance management problems of internal transportation systems are characterized. Based on this, the framework for DT concept implementation is presented. The work ends with conclusions and directions for further research.
