Advanced Tools and Model-Based Analysis for Digital and Software-Defined Systems in Safety-Critical Applications
Safety-Critical applications rely more and more on Digital and Software-Defined Systems. These systems, not only bring in general enhanced functionalities and performances compared to its predecessors, but also offer additional capabilities from a safety and reliability standpoint, such as autonomous failure detection and self-reconfiguration. In this paper we explore the use of a Model-Based approach, combined with Markov analysis and formal methods, to verify safety, reliability and availability features of a complex system. The proposed methodology supported with a dedicated tool aims at facilitating the task of systems safety engineers offering an easy-to-use interface to mask the complexity of the mathematical methods and enable its application in industrial projects.
