Color-control technique for building-integrated photovoltaics using red mica coating

Abstract A novel technique of coloring building-integrated photovoltaics (BIPV) via red mica pigment is realized. We show that the red-colored mica can be utilized for BIPV coloring with a minimum photovoltaic conversion loss by tuning the concentration and the glass texture of the sample. The angular dependency of coating in similar structures is suppressed using glass texture. Among the researcher samples, the best result sample shows a low short-circuit current density loss ( Δ J sc ) of 1.5%. This result indicates the promising technique of red-colored BIPV via red mica coating with a minimum efficiency loss and optimum optical properties.
