Sun-focused spot detection method for AR-HUD
The car mounted AR-HUD(Augmented Reality-Head Up Display) has gradually gained popularity among the public by increasing driving safety and enhancing the driving experience. However, the problem of sunlight backflow in its optical design can cause the PGU to work at high temperatures, which can easily affect the display effect of the PGU(picture generating unit), and even cause it to operate outside the rated temperature range and be burned out. This design has developed a sunlight backflow detection system for AR-HUD. The method adopts an infrared temperature array sensor, which can monitor the working temperature of the PGU and position the solar focused spot in the PGU display area when sunlight backflow occurs without affecting the AR-HUD projection imaging and not sacrificing the display screen size. The detection method has a small size and each module can be installed separately, making it suitable for detecting sunlight backflow in the majority of car mounted head up displays. It proposes new prerequisites for solving the problem of sunlight backflow in car mounted head up displays and provides an effective technical solution for improving the thermal management capability of AR-HUD methods.
