A fast cross-range scaling method for geosynchronous broadcasting satellite-based passive bistatic ISAR imaging

The cross-range scaling (CRS) and bistatic distortion correction are essential procedures for bistatic inverse synthetic aperture radar (Bi-ISAR) imaging. In this paper, a fast CRS method is proposed for the geosynchronous broadcasting satellite-based passive Bi-ISAR imaging. The extremely long distance between the GEO satellite and the ground receiver induces the special property of the geometry. When the target moves smoothly, the parameters to be obtained including the initial bistatic angle, the bistatic angle change rate, and the effective rotation angle can be calculated by the receiver observation angle and its change rate. The proposed method takes advantage of this property to reduce the parameter estimation steps, and as a consequence, the computational complexity is significantly decreased. The simulation results are presented to verify the feasibility and effectiveness of the proposed method.
