Attachment Styles and Their Role in Human Life
This article analyzes the main theoretical approaches to understanding attachment theory. It focuses on the preconditions and consequences of individual differences in infant attachment patterns. On the basis of the theoretical analysis, infant attachment types and their relation to the attitudes of self- and othersʼ perceptions are described. The style of attachment in adulthood is considered. The author concludes about the stability of the attachment model formed at an early age. It is noted that childhood attachment patterns partially mediate the attachment styles of adult relationships through internal working models. However, it is important to recognize the variability of patterns due to a number of factors, which is an important aspect of therapeutic processes aimed at improving a personʼs quality of life. The article concludes by outlining the prospects for further research in the field of attachment.
