Reducing the annealing heating rate sensitivity of Fe83.5Si3B10P2Cu1.5 soft magnetic nanocrystalline alloy by adjusting the B/P ratio

• Decreasing the B/P ratio facilitates the formation of an amorphous precursor containing more α-Fe-like structure and Cu(P)-clusters. • After annealing with a low heating rate (1 ℃/s), the Fe 83.5 Si 3 B 4 P 8 Cu 1.5 alloy shows a low H c (≤ 10 A/m) in a broad temperature range. • Decreasing the B/P ratio diminishes the sensitivity of the Fe 83.5 Si 3 B 10 P 2 Cu 1.5 nanocrystalline alloy to the annealing heating rate. The effects of B/P ratio on microstructure, crystallization behavior and soft magnetic characteristics of Fe 83.5 Si 3 B 10- x P 2+ x Cu 1.5 ( x = 0, 3, 6 & 8 at.%) amorphous alloys were studied. The results of Mössbauer spectra indicate that B/P ratio significantly impact the microstructure of amorphous alloy. A decrease in the B/P ratio facilitates the formation of an amorphous precursor containing more α-Fe-like structure and Cu(P)-clusters. As the B/P ratio reduces, the saturation magnetic induction ( B s ) and the coercivity ( H c ) of the as-quenched Fe 83.5 Si 3 B 10- x P 2+ x Cu 1.5 amorphous alloy decreases. After annealing with a low heating rate (1 °C/s), the Fe 83.5 Si 3 B 4 P 8 Cu 1.5 alloy shows a low H c (≤ 10 A/m) in a broad temperature range. With the decrease of the B/P ratio, the sensitivity of the soft magnetic properties of the nanocrystalline alloys to the annealing heating rate decreases.
