O jeziku Jozefa Škvoreckog u romanu Hříchy pro pátera Knoxe i mogućnostima njegovog prevoda na srpski
The paper discusses the language devices used by Josef Škvorecký in his detective novel Hříchy pro pátera Knoxe (Sins for Father Knox). Elements that are characteristic of Škvoreckýʼs works are presented, as well as those that are specific to this novel. Their meaning and usage, as well as their Serbian translation equivalents, are analyzed based on Czech and Serbian monolingual dictionaries, Czech-Serbian dictionary and data from the Czech National Corpus and Corpus of Contemporary Serbian. It is concluded that it is possible to preserve the author's stylistic devices and the overall impression of that imaginatively written work. The justification for the use of language means that deviate from the nature of the Serbian language lies in the specificity of the novel's lexicon.
