A Study on the narrow Space Design method for the Leisure Activities in the Cargo Ship : Focusing Design case on the technology of virtual reality

In recent days, the importance of crew living space design that can provide leisure activities for seafarer is increasing according to the seafarer-centered operation policy of the shipping company has fleet of cargo ships. However, it is not easy to optimize and design a narrow space with a traditional design technique. Therefore, this study analyzed the problems of the current design and review method with customers. The problem of the current method is that it is difficult to examine the space empirically, so it is possible to confirm the difference between the initial design drawing and the actual result after the construction is completed. Therefore, through the experiential virtual reality(VR) technology that has brought about a lot of technological advances in recent days, the case of experiential review of the leisure activity space design of the main space in the design stage and its effect on the space design were investigated, and its value was studied. As a result, it is more economical than the current method and will be to improve effectively in terms of communication with customers.
