A Study on the Creativity Education and Future Competency Development Direction of Students in the Age of Artificial Intelligence : Focusing on the Webtoon and Animation Majors

This study investigated the perceptions of students preparing for the entrance examination for the webtoon and animation major in the era of artificial intelligence on creativity education and future competency development. A survey was conducted on the factors to improve creativity, the necessity of media literacy education, and ways to strengthen problem solving and collaboration skills for students who wish to enter the webtoon and animation fields of the Seoul-based entrance examination academy. As a result of the study, students recognized that various experiences (42.3%) and imagination (34.6%) were important for creativity development. In addition, they agreed on the necessity of media literacy education (82.7%) and demanded the expansion of problem-oriented learning (32.7%) and self-directed learning (25.0%) to strengthen creative problem-solving capabilities. On the other hand, in personality education, improvement opinions such as caring and respect (42.3%), communication skills (32.7%), and team projects (28.8%) and collaboration method education (28.8%) were presented to develop collaboration skills. Regarding major education, it was considered that the focus should be on basic practical skills (51.9%), production of unique works (21.2%), and expansion of practical projects (71.2%). In addition, there was a demand for improvement in the overall art curriculum, such as reinforcement of personalized guidance (38.5%) and practical education (17.3%). This study is significant in that it proposes the direction of future creative talent education from the perspective of prospective majors. Furthermore, it is expected to provide practical implications for the design of an art curriculum that reflects the needs of learners derived from the survey results.
