Impak Ketagihan Skrin Telefon Pintar dalam Kalangan Remaja Juvana
The use of smartphones has resulted in various impacts that have significantly steered today's users towards a more aggressive engagement with the formation of the digital society. Moreover, the dependence on communication technology has given rise to the phenomenon of screen addiction. The consequences of smartphone screen addiction have sparked concerns related to access to explicit material, such as pornography, subsequently turning some users into hardcore viewers and exposing them to other criminal behaviours. Therefore, the aim of this study is to synthesize the negative impact and experiences associated with smartphone screen addiction among teenage juveniles. In-depth interviews were conducted with 34 teenage juveniles from two Tunas Bakti Schools (STB), with permission from the Department of Social Welfare (JKM). All samples of adolescent juveniles were purposefully selected based on case-related sampling criteria pertaining to screen addiction, access to illicit content, and involvement in sexual offenses. The study findings reveal that smartphone screen addiction has implications that drive and expose individuals to pornography consumption, thereby exerting a social impact on immoral behaviour and engagement in other criminal activities. This study recommends the involvement of professional organizations such as counsellors and mental health experts to provide more suitable support and solutions in addressing this issue. Therefore, future research is needed to delve deeper into safety issues related to adolescents' dependence on smartphone screen addiction. This step is vital in understanding and mitigating the negative implications stemming from adolescents' reliance on smartphone screen addiction.
