REABILITAÇÃO COM IMPLANTES EM PACIENTES ONCOLÓGICOS PÓS-RADIOTERAPIA: DESAFIOS E RESULTADOS

The oral rehabilitation of oncology patients who have undergone radiotherapy is a challenge in dentistry that requires special attention and a personalized touch. Therefore, this study aims to conduct an integrative review of the literature on the main results of rehabilitation with implants in oncology patients after radiotherapy. For this, the following electronic databases were used: U.S. National Library of Medicine (PubMed), Scientific Electronic Library Online (SciELO), Cochrane Library, Latin American and Caribbean Literature in Health Sciences (LILACS); in addition, Google Scholar, an electronic library of scientific articles and academic papers from the gray literature, was used in order to search and identify studies that answered the guiding question of this integrative literature review. Rehabilitation with dental implants in oncology patients after radiotherapy can be effective, but it depends on factors such as the radiation dose, the time between radiotherapy and implant placement, and the condition of the irradiated bone. Although implants show good success rates, complications such as implant failure and osteoradionecrosis remain challenges. In conclusion, a careful and personalized approach is essential to optimize results, and further studies are needed to improve techniques and increase treatment reliability.
