The dinamics of the demographic situation in the North-Caucasus federal district
The article analyzes the dynamics of the demographic situation in the North Caucasian Federal District with the aim of identifying key issues and determining measures for their resolution. Data from statistical authorities reflecting demographic information by subjects of the federal district for the years 2005-2022 are utilized. The main problems of the demographic situation in the district are identified, and measures for addressing them are proposed. The article examines the population dynamics of the North Caucasian Federal District (NCFD) from 2005 to 2022, highlighting its unique ethnic and cultural characteristics. It emphasizes that population size is a critical indicator for assessing the region’s sustainability and development, serving as a key human resource. Quantitative data on the population of the NCFD is presented, showing that in 2005, it was 9,036.8 thousand people, and by 2022, it increased to 10,295.7 thousand people, indicating a growth of 12.9% over the specified period. However, this growth also conceals significant disparities among the subjects of the district and varying patterns of change, depending on economic, social, and cultural factors. The analysis indicates that the Republic of Dagestan remains the most populous region in the NCFD with positive growth dynamics. However, after 2020, the rate of population increase began to slow down, while the Stavropol Krai is facing challenges related to an aging population and declining birth rates, which have also contributed to a decrease in population after 2020. The importance of a systematic consideration of the various factors influencing population dynamics is underscored, and efforts to improve the level and quality of life are recommended to achieve sustainable growth in demographic indicators in the region.
