MODELO DE MATURIDADE DA GESTÃO DO TRANSPORTE INTRA-HOSPITALAR DE PACIENTES

Intra-hospital patient transport is a critical logistical process that directly impacts patient safety, operational efficiency, and institutional costs, but is often neglected in hospital management. This study aimed to develop and apply a Maturity Model for Intra-Hospital Patient Transport Management (MMGTIHP), aiming to provide a strategic tool to evaluate and improve transport practices in health institutions. The research was conducted in two large hospitals in the city of Curitiba: one privately managed (Hospital A) and the other philanthropic (Hospital B). The methodology was based on a systematic review of the literature to build an evaluation matrix structured in five dimensions: logistics system, protocols and safety, quality of care, management and organization, and innovation and continuous improvement. Data collection included structured interviews with managers and operational professionals of intra-hospital transport, in addition to direct observation of the practices adopted in each institution. The results indicated that Hospital A presented greater maturity in 75% of the dimensions evaluated, standing out in areas such as technological innovation and safety protocols. In contrast, Hospital B, with 30% of its practices classified as mature, demonstrated significant challenges in communication, information management and process integration. The MMGTIHP is not limited to being an evaluation tool, but rather positions itself as a strategic guide that guides managers to identify critical areas and implement targeted improvements. Its practical applicability was corroborated by the data collected, which highlighted how the implementation of best practices and innovations can contribute to reducing delays in surgeries, mitigating overcrowding and increasing operational efficiency. The implications of the model are substantial, offering hospital managers a structured basis for making informed decisions and for the continuous improvement of intra-hospital transport processes.
