Frequency-Reconfigurable Ultra-wideband Phased Array with Enhanced Beam-scanning Performance
This paper reports a frequency-reconfigurable tightly-coupled dipole array (TCDA) with an overall combined 15.8:1 bandwidth and an enhanced beam-scanning performance. The scan volume expansion is achieved by incorporating a tailored WAIM design formed by dual-level, double-sided capacitively loaded loops (DSDL-CLLs). The DSDL-CLLs also facilitate the array achieving an improved impedance matching performance. Wide beam scanning up to ±70° in the E-/D-planes and ±50° in the H-plane with a VSWR < 3 is attained. The fabricated prototype of this innovative TDCA array confirmed its superior performance characteristics.
