Investigating Detection Resolution in Multi-Static Passive Radar

Situational awareness in complex environments, requires the ability to locate targets in accurately in Cartesian space. This study investigates the role of system geometry in determining tracking precision within this space using multi-static passive radar systems. Two array topologies, the Uniform Linear Array (ULA) and Uniform Circular Array (UCA), are evaluated through a grid-based spatial resolution analysis, to assess target localization in both bistatic range and Cartesian space. The impact of direct path interference is considered by applying its inverse effect to each grid cell, enabling a more accurate assessment of detection sensitivity. The findings offer practical insights into optimal receiver placement and interference mitigation strategies, contributing to improving the design and performance of multi-static radar systems.
