Occurrence of Hibiscus glanduliferus (Malvaceae) in India With Notes on Its Nomenclature

ABSTRACT Hibiscus glanduliferus (Malvaceae: Hibisceae) commonly known as “Yellow Rose Mallow,” is a species belonging to Sect. Azanza morphologically characterized by its bushy habit, with elegant lemon‐yellow colored flowers. The species is sometimes cultivated in India's gardens, avenues, and parks but, no scientific record for flora of India is reported until now. After field surveys, we found planted as well as some escaped populations of this species, which represent the first record in India. The nomenclatural notes with typification of the name and a diagnostic key of the taxa belonging to Hibiscus sect. Azanza occurring in India is also provided.
