IMPACTOS NEGATIVOS DA TECNOLOGIA NO SONO E NA CONCENTRAÇÃO INFANTIL: CONSEQUÊNCIAS PARA O BEM-ESTAR
Introduction: Sleep and concentration are essential aspects of healthy child development, directly influencing their physical, emotional, and cognitive health. However, the increasing use of digital technologies has raised concerns about the negative impacts of these tools on children’s sleep quality and concentration. Objectives: The general objective of this study is to analyze the negative impacts of excessive technology use on children’s sleep and concentration. Specific objectives include investigating how the use of digital devices interferes with children’s sleep quality and evaluating the consequences of this exposure on children’s academic performance and well-being.Justification: The research is socially, academically, and scientifically relevant as the increased use of digital devices among children has proven to be a risk factor for sleep problems and concentration difficulties. Understanding these impacts is crucial for developing strategies that promote a balanced use of technology.Methodology: A systematic literature review was conducted, following PRISMA guidelines. Data was gathered from articles published between 2020 and 2024 in the SciELO, PubMed, and Lilacs databases. The research focused on studies addressing the impacts of digital technology use on children’s sleep, concentration, and well-being, using descriptors such as “children’s sleep,” “technology,” “digital screens,” and “concentration.”Results and Discussion: The review selected 09 studies that address the negative impacts of technology on children’s sleep and concentration. The results indicate that prolonged exposure to screens directly interferes with sleep quality, contributing to disorders such as insomnia and fragmented sleep. Conclusion: Based on the results obtained, it is concluded that excessive exposure to digital technologies harms both children’s sleep and concentration, affecting their overall development. Therefore, it is essential to raise awareness about the risks of uncontrolled use of digital devices, seeking strategies that favor balanced technology use to preserve children’s physical, mental, and cognitive health.
