Mobile full-duplex optical wireless communication network
Because light has different propagation behaviors at different wavelengths, all-light communication that can transmit and receive data regardless of the environment can completely bridge space, air, and underwater applications via different types of light sources for seamless connectivity. Here, we establish a complete-mapping mobile optical communication network that fuses wireless moving white light and fixed infrared light communication nodes. An image identification module and a full-duplex light communication module are packaged together and fixed on a three-axis gimbal stabilizer to address the dynamic optical path alignment challenge for moving vehicles. This network architecture is based on the transmission control protocol/internet protocol (TCP/IP) scheme; thus, all communication nodes have equal and complete mapping characteristics and can facilitate two-way data transmission between arbitrary nodes within the network. This complete-mapping network can achieve a throughput reaching 4 Mbps, and real-time video communication is experimentally shown at a packet loss rate (PLR) of 1.9%, offering a feasible option for reliable all-light mobile communication networks.
