A Novel Magnetic Permeance Network Model for SPM Machine With Bread-Loaf Structure

The magnetic equivalent circuit (MEC) is widely recognized as a valuable tool for designing and analyzing electric machines with a good balance of time and accuracy. However, addressing complex geometric structure continues to be a major drawback of this method. In order to overcome the above shortcomings, this research aims to introduce a novel permeance network (PN) model for a complex geometric structure. A permanent magnet (PM) machine with complex structure, viz., bread-loaf PMs, is selected as research machine. In PN model, the motor components are discretized and analyzed using a combination of sector and triangle elements, which improves the accuracy of the model. In addition, this research designed an automated construction of PN models, and propose methods to reduce the computational time for calculating the relative motion of the permeability saturation and rotor in the PN model. The results show that the flux density, back electromotive force (EMF) and torque of the motor are matched with finite element model (FEM) and experiments.
