An Intelligent Attendance System Based on Multi-Modal Fusion of Millimeter-Wave Radar and Facial Recognition Technology

As smart campus initiatives progress, intelligent attendance systems are increasingly replacing traditional methods, becoming a crucial component of higher education management. This paper presents an intelligent attendance system that integrates millimeter-wave radar with facial recognition technology using a multi-modal fusion approach. The system leverages the precise positioning capabilities of millimeter-wave radar and the efficient identity verification of facial recognition, addressing attendance challenges in complex scenarios through data fusion. Experimental results demonstrate that millimeter-wave radar significantly improves the robustness and adaptability of facial recognition in low-light conditions, overlapping crowds, and mask-wearing situations. The integrated system achieves an attendance precision exceeding 94.6% under challenging conditions, with a response time of less than 2 seconds. This study offers technical solutions and practical guidance for implementing intelligent attendance systems in smart campus environments.
