Study on the Factors Influencing Demotivation in English Learning among Non-English Major Undergraduates in Chinese Universities of Science and Engineering

This study adopts a quantitative research method to investigate the factors influencing the demotivation of English learning among the first-year and second-year non-English major undergraduate students from SouthWest Petroleum University by means of a questionnaire survey. And upon conducting a statistical analysis of data using SPSS 26.0, the following conclusions are drawn: The influencing factors of college students' demotivation in learning English mainly comes from the student dimension and the class environment dimension, while the influence of teacher dimension factors is relatively small; among the three dimensions, there exists a general correlation between the student dimension and the class environment dimension, while the correlations of the former two dimensions with the teacher dimension are weaker; the influencing factors of college students' demotivation to learn English have a gender difference under the class environment dimension and a grade difference under the teacher dimension.
