Robotic Repair of Vesicouterine Fistula
INTRODUCTION: Vesicouterine fistulas are an exceedingly rare pathology resulting from the formation of a tract between the uterus and the bladder. As there has been a rise in cesarean section rates, this type of fistula has become increasingly common. There is no set guidelines in the management and treatment of vesicouterine fistulas. We present a case of a successful management and robotic repair of a vesicouterine fistula resulting from a primary cesarean section. OBJECTIVE: The objective of this video is to demonstrate a robotic technique for the repair of a rare pathology that is the vesicouterine fistula. METHODS: This video was performed at a large academic institution using robotic-assisted laparoscopy to repair a fistula between the uterus and the bladder. RESULTS: The patient underwent a robotic repair of a vesicouterine fistula, which was successful, and her intra- and postoperative courses were uncomplicated. CONCLUSIONS: Robotic repairs of vesicouterine fistulas are a minimally invasive way of treatment that, in our patient, showed excellent results.
