Abstract

The advancement of Generative AI(Artificial Intelligence) is driving transformative changes across various industries. In architecture and construction, the adoption and application of Generative AI are expected to bring about innovations in various aspects. The demand for utilizing Generative AI in architectural design processes is increasing and is anticipated to grow even further.Specifically, its application is expected to be particularly impactful in atypical architectural design processes where architects may lack sufficient experience. This is because Generative AI is highly effective in exploring various possibilities in advance when dealing with complex and unconventional design forms. However, research on the specific impact of Generative AI in fostering creativity in architecture remains limited. This research examines the effects of Generative AI on creative problem-solving in atypical architectural design processes. To this end, it conducts comparative analyses of design studio outcomes before and after applying Generative AI.The study evaluates these effects through experiments and surveys to identify how Generative AI contributes to creative problem-solving.The findings of this research elucidate the tangible impacts of Generative AI on the architectural design process and establish a foundation for its appropriate use and development in the future.
