Study on tunable laser drive based on temperature feedback compensation

Abstract The tunable laser is a crucial component in spectral analysis and fiber grating demodulation systems, and long-term operation raises the semiconductor laser operating temperature, leading to wavelength shifts that compromise measurement stability. To resolve this issue, this paper investigates a compensation method based on the mutual coupling control of temperature feedback and current tuning, which can eliminate the technical difficulty of laser output wavelength instability due to temperature variation. The results show that the linearity between the input and the actual measured current of the current tuning module is as high as 0.99, and the output current fluctuation is stable. A tuning span of 45 nm was realized in the range of 1525–1570 nm. The temperature feedback compensation effectively controls the wavelength drift within 0.017 nm and the output intensity is stable. This approach significantly improves measurement precision, enhances adaptability, and meets the requirements of various industrial applications.
