Healthy Lifestyle and Suicidal Ideation Among Teenagers

To address the significant prevalence of mental health issues among adolescents, various measures must be implemented. Sustaining a healthy body is particularly important as it significantly influences adolescents’ psychological state. A teenager maintaining a healthy lifestyle is likely to reduce their risk of experiencing homicidal ideation. This study aims to investigate whether a healthy lifestyle can serve as a predictor for suicidal ideation among adolescents. This study employs a quantitative methodology utilizing a non-correlational experimental design, involving a total of 647 subjects. The data collection method involved using the Healthy Lifestyle Questionnaire (HLQ) and the Suicide Ideation Scale (SIS), which were analyzed through simple linear regression and multiple linear regression with the aid of Jamovi 2.3 software. The findings validated the proposed hypothesis, suggesting that a healthy lifestyle can serve as a predictor for suicidal ideation among adolescents. A healthier lifestyle is associated with a significantly lower value of suicidal ideation (p < 0.001), with an R value of -0.397. A healthy lifestyle accounts for 15.8% of suicidal ideation among adolescents.
