Qualitative Meta-Synthesis on the Effectiveness of Integrated Physical Education Classes

This study aims to research the effectiveness of integrated physical education classes. To this end, we selected studies that presented the effects of integrated physical education classes and conducted a qualitative meta-synthesis to find the meaning of their contents.Specifically, research papers published from 2004 to 2024 were analyzed at the title, abstract, and content levels to select six final research papers related to this study, which were then analyzed to derive research results. As a result of the study, the effects of integrated physical education classes were shown in the physical education learning factors and physical education class attitude factors. The physical education learning factors were 'improvement of integrated learning ability' and 'cultivation of self-directed learning ability,'' and the physical education class attitude factors were 'formation of holistic values' and 'formation of positive participation attitude.''This suggests that integrated physical education classes facilitate students' understanding of learning in other subjects and form a voluntary and positive attitude toward learning and the right sense of values. Therefore, we should continue to teach diverse content by integrating various subjects, such as music, Korean, English, and science, centered on physical education.
