The Effect of Faculty-Student Interaction on Employment Preparation Behavior by Airline Service Major Students: Mediating Effect of Major Commitment
This study aimed to investigate the effects of faculty-student interaction on employment preparation behavior by mediating the effect of major commitment. This empirical study targets 284 major students in South Korea majoring in airline service.Data were analyzed with SPSS 23.0.program.Regression and mediating effect tests were used to verify the relationships among variables. The research results are as follows: first, faculty-student interaction had positive effects on major commitment and employment preparation behavior.Second, major commitment also had a positive effect on employment preparation behavior.Lastly, major commitment showed a partial mediating effect in the relationship between faculty-student interaction and employment preparation behavior. In other words, employment preparation behavior increases more when major commitment mediates facultystudent interaction and employment preparation behavior than when faculty-student interaction directly affects employment preparation behavior. The practical implications of this study are as follows: interaction methods improving faculty-student interaction should be developed so that it can increase students' major commitment. Also, special programs to improve major commitment should be developed and operated for airline service major students, especially those with low major commitment and low faculty-student interaction.Major commitment is an important factor that can strengthen employment preparation behavior and mediate the relationship between faculty-student interaction and employment preparation behavior.
