An Eye-Tracking-Based Analysis for Enhancing User Experience of the "Sex Offender Alert-e" Application
This study aims to analyze the impact of the information delivery method in the 'Sex Offender Notification e application' on crime prevention and user experience, and to propose design strategies that maximize information delivery effectiveness. To achieve this, eye-tracking technology was employed to quantitatively measure users' visual behavior and areas of interest (AOI), while also assessing information comprehension and memory retention effects. The study found that users exhibited the highest visual attention to offender mugshots and criminal record information.Mugshots attracted attention primarily during the initial exploration phase, whereas criminal record details were repeatedly reviewed as key information.Furthermore, the information delivery method enhanced users' comprehension, and specific details such as criminal history positively influenced memory retention.Gender-based analysis revealed that female users focused more on mugshots and residence information, while male users paid greater attention to criminal history and offender names. This study highlights the importance of visual information in designing sex offender notification applications and emphasizes that tailored information delivery strategies, reflecting user characteristics, can enhance information effectiveness.Future research should include broader user groups and further evaluate the preventive effects of such applications while also considering interface improvements based on actual user feedback.
