Impact of Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation Training Program on Emergency Nurses' Performance at Al Aqsa Martyrs Hospital in the Gaza Strip
Background: Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) is considered a core emergency skill in which all health care professionals must be proficient. Objective: The aim of the study was to assess impact of CPR training program on emergency nurses' performance at Al Aqsa Martyrs Hospital in the Gaza strip (GS). Methods and Materials: Between January and December 2023, 70 emergency nurses from Al Aqsa Martyrs Hospital in GS participated in an interventional random control trial study utilizing a self-structured questionnaire based on the American Heart Association guidelines 2020. The researcher utilized SPSS version 24 to examine the data before and after the training program, using the T-test and ANOVA tests. Results: The study showed a significant improvement in knowledge scores immediately after the training program (M= 83.42 vs. 36.95, p ˂0.001), with an increase of 125.77%. Also, the training program significantly improved practice (M= 1.75 vs. 0.61, p ˂ 0.001), with a percentage gain of 183.52%. Conclusion: Respondents had inadequate CPR knowledge and skills at pre-test, but the study revealed statistically significant improvement in both knowledge and skills of CPR for all emergency departments (EDs) nurses post-training; it is recommended that regular CPR training courses be implemented to maintain and enhance their preparedness in critical situations.
