Immunohistochemical Study of IL-6 and IL-10 Expression in Breast Cancer Correlations with ER, PR, Her-2, Ki-67, and Clinicopathological Features in Iraqi Women
Background: Breast cancer was the most prevalent malignancy identified in the studied female population. and is also the primary reason for cancer-related fatalities among women. Releasing inflammatory cytokines, such as IL-6 and IL-10, induces inflammation and subsequent tissue damage. Aim: The research aims to learn more about the connection between IL-6 and IL-10 immunohistochemical expression "ER, PR, and Her-2 status in breast cancer in association with Ki-67 status ". Materials and Methods: A total of 36 breast cancer cases were analyzed and reviewed; ER, PR, Her-2, Ki-67, IL-6 and IL-10 were examined in tumor cells. Results: The high percentage of IL-10 expression was positive and showed statistically significant associations with ER and PR (P = 0.005). Similarly, cells with a high Ki-67 concentration but a low Her-2 level with a low percentage of IL-6 had positive expression. Conclusion: This research established a link “between IL-6, IL-10 expression with the presence of ER, PR, Ki-67, and a lack of Her-2”.
