PREPARATION AND PERFORMANCE OF ROTATING CYLINDRICAL ELECTRODEPOSITION FOR Cu/Ni-DIAMOND COMPOSITE COATING

In the grinding and repairing process of precision glass, the general rotating tools are not only prone to glass cracking or breakage but also have high costs and poor wear resistance. In this study, a new alternative for preparing rotating micron-diamond tools was reported. With the rotating cylindrical electrodeposition method, Cu/Ni-diamond composite coatings were prepared on the surface of brass tools. A rotating cylindrical electrodeposition device was developed to control and display parameters, including stirring speed, temperature, and cathode rotating speed. The surface morphology and phase structure of coatings were analyzed using scanning electron microscopy and powder diffractometer. The hardness of the coating was measured using a Vickers hardness tester, and the corrosion resistance of the coating was tested using an electrochemical workstation. The effects of different cathode speeds and different anode numbers on hardness, particle content, and anti-corrosion were compared. The results showed that the diamond particles had a good combination with nickel matrix and the tool surface had good corrosion resistance, which laid a research foundation for the industrial application of this technology.
