EFFECT OF HOLDING TIME ON THE DEPLETION BEHAVIOR OF Mn DURING VACUUM SINTERING OF Fe–Al–Mn POWDER COMPACTS
In this work, the diffusion/reaction of Al and other elements and Mn sublimation were synergistically utilized to synthesize FeAl porous materials with high open porosity. The depletion behavior of Mn in the Fe–Al–Mn compacts was studied by holding at [Formula: see text]C for different time durations. The results show that the sintered compacts were mainly composed of [Formula: see text]Mn and FeAl phases after sintering at [Formula: see text]C with no holding time. [Formula: see text]Mn phase gradually decreased with the increase of holding time and disappeared by holding 2.5[Formula: see text]h. Mn content gradually increased from the surface to the interior. The Mn sublimation occurred in all regions of the sintered compacts when the holding time reached 0.5[Formula: see text]h.
