ENERGY CONSUMPTION OF DATA CENTERS AND ITS IMPACT ON THE ECONOMY OF SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT
The global growth of data and the development of digital technologies has led to an increase in the electricity consumption of data centers, with implications for global and environmental sustainability. The high energy intensity of server power systems, cooling systems, and the power grid leads to higher energy supply costs, increased carbon footprint of supply, and increased stress on the energy system. The paper analyzes the magnitude of energy consumption, data centers, its economic and environmental impacts, and develops innovative solutions to improve energy efficiency. Particular attention is paid to the introduction of renewable energy sources, optimization of cooling systems and governmental measures to regulate energy consumption. The prospects for digital employment and its role in the green economy of the future are discussed.
