Low-latency Software-based Uncompressed Video Transmission
Demand for low-latency transmission of large-capacity video such as 4K and 8K is increasing for various applications. Currently, IP-based uncompressed video transmission using dedicated hardware is the mainstream for low latency processing of large-capacity video. This requires additional costs for procurement and maintenance, and time to add new features. Therefore, uncompressed video transmission by software is attracting attention. Software-based processing is superior to hardware processing in terms of convenience, operational efficiency, and cost reduction. However, it is difficult to achieve low latency processing compared with hardware. In this paper, we implemented a software-based uncompressed video transmission system which transmits 8K equivalent uncompressed video with low latency. It is also possible to handle data on the GPU in consideration of cooperation with video processing applications that handle data on the GPU. This paper shows the excellent possibility of software-based essential video transmission.
