Platform for Endangered Language Education
This study presents a cloud-based system called MeTILDA (Melodic Transcription in Language Documentation and Application) for pitch-accented endangered language education. Specifically, it provides analytic capabilities to support the study of pitch and rhythm of syllables. In addition, we explore ways to improve data visualization through Pitch Art representations and filter results to help users identify patterns and meaning in the data. All the data can be downloaded or stored in the cloud for data reuse and collaboration. These features facilitate teachers in developing curriculum for language acquisition and provide students with an interactive and integrative learning environment to better understand endangered language and pronunciation.
