Clinical results and recurrence factors analysis of platinum coils in the treatment of intracranial aneurysms

Objective: Analysis of clinical efficacy and risk factors for recurrence of intracranial aneurysms treated with platinum coils.Method: Collect information on the Tiantan Hospital May 2018 to January 2020 Clinical data of patients undergoing platinum coil embolization of aneurysms. Determine the risk factors for aneurysm recurrence after platinum coils embolization through univariate and multivariate analysis.Result: A total of 258 patients were enrolled in this study, The average age was 56. 2 years, and 192 patients (74. 4%) were females. The average follow-up time was 6 months, and 38 (14. 7%) aneurysms recurred. Univariate analysis showed that statistically significant differences in aneurysm location, aneurysm size, neck size of aneurysm, Hunt-Hess grade and the proportion of the volume of the coil with a diameter ≤ 1. 5mm to the volume of the aneurysm between the patients with recurrence and the patients with no recurrence ( P < 0. 05 ). Multivariate logistics regression analysis shows, Hunt-Hess grade II, Posterior circulation aneurysm, the proportion of the volume of the coil with a diameter ≤ 1. 5mm to the volume of the aneurysm were risk factors for aneurysm recurrence after platinum coil embolization. Conclusion: Posterior circulation aneurysm, Hunt- Hess grade II aneurysm, the lower proportion of the volume of the coil with a diameter ≤ 1. 5mm to the volume of the aneurysm, the higher the risk of aneurysm recurrence after coil embolization.
