Design and application of a new type of butterfly wing clamp pressure sensitive tape with patients with nasal feeding

Objective To introduce a new type of butterfly wing clamp pressure sensitive tape for gastric tube fixation and observe its clinical application effect. Methods Patients with indwelling gastric tubes in a hospital from September 2023 to December 2023 were randomly selected and divided into a control group and an experimental group with 45 cases in each group. The control group used traditional tape for fixation, while the experimental group used the new type of butterfly wing clamp pressure-sensitive tape. We compared the rate of unplanned extubation, the rate of lesions at the fixation site of the gastric tube, and the subjective comfort and aesthetics reported by patients between the two groups. Results The rate of unplanned extubation in the experimental group was lower than that in the control group (P<0.05). The rate of skin injury in the experimental group was significantly lower than that in the control group (P<0.05). The comfort and aesthetics of the experimental group were significantly higher than those of the control group (P<0.05). Conclusion Compared with the traditional tape, the new type of butterfly wing clamp has improved the stability, aesthetics and air permeability, and can improve the comfort of patients.
