On-Demand Network QoS Adaptation for Automated Tele-Operated Driving
This paper presents preliminary results of ongoing work on integrating support for tele-operated driving into Beyond-5G (B5G) and upcoming 6G networks. By means of field trials with a tele-operated vehicle, tele-operation service and a beyond-the-state-of-the-art B5G infrastructure, we have demonstrated that exposing open interfaces from a B5G core network to enable on-demand adaptation of the network Quality-of-Service (QoS) is effective in fulfilling the stringent requirements of tele-operation. Further trials will focus on more realistic scenarios with several and longer tele-operation sessions and complex tele-operation manoeuvres.
